Rs 5 cr Scam in AP - Six Sub-Registrars Suspended

A Rs 5 crore worth scam was unearthed in Andhra Pradesh in the stamps and registration department. 

The government, after initial inquiry suspended six sub-registrars and booked 10 criminal cases against them. 

There are more heads to be rolled out in the days to come as the departmental enquiry completes.

It was found that the sub-registrars, officials, document writers and the property buyers colluded and crated fake documents and fake challans causing a loss of Rs 5 crore to the state. 

The officials, during the initial inquiry have already recovered Rs 1.37 crore from the accused. 

This type of transactions were reported more in Mandavalli sub-registrar office of Krishna district. 

Special secretary Rajat Bharghava told media persons that a thorough verification of the documents is being done departmentally to find out the fake documents.

He said the government would not spare even a single person in the scam and would take serious action against the culprits. 

He said that some officials, sub-registrars, documents writers and general public were involved in creating the fake documents during the registration. 

Rajat Bhargava said that everyone in the scam would be punished as per law. He also said that they have so far verified 65 lakh documents and would continue to check them till the last rupee is recovered.
