Maverick Telugu Desam Party legislator from Undi assembly constituency and former Narasaraopet MP Kanumuru Raghu Ramakrishna Raju is terribly upset with his boss and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not taking any action against senior IPS officer and former Crime Investigation Department chief P V Sunil Kumar.
Raju wrote a letter to Naidu on Sunday requesting that Sunil Kumar be arrested immediately and interrogated in connection with a case pertaining to alleged torturing of him in the polices station during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime in 2021.
He alleged that Sunil Kumar has been threatening the witnesses that they would have to face dire consequences if they made any statements against him in the court.
“There is a threat to my life, if the IPS officer is out on bail. So, kindly arrest him and throw him behind the bars,” Raju told Naidu.
It may be mentioned that the Pattabhipuram police in Guntur district filed a case against Sunil Kumar, then Intelligence chief P S R Anjaneyulu and CID DSP Vijay Paul for allegedly torturing him in the police station, based on Raju’s complaint.
Even then Guntur general hospital superintendent of police Dr Prabhavati was booked for allegedly mentioning in the hospital report that there were no external injuries on the body of RRR to prove that he was subject to custodial torture.
While Anjaneyulu and Sunil Kumar were granted bail, Vijay Paul is absconding after the high court rejected his plea for anticipatory bail. The Naidu government suspended two police officials.
Raju said if the government doesn’t take any action, he would move the court again seeking suspension of the bail given to Sunil Kumar.
