Even as the Andhra Pradesh cabinet led by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to meet on Friday to formally take a decision declaring Visakhapatnam as the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party general secretary V Vijay Sai Reddy already announced the cabinet decision.
He told media persons on Thursday that the chief minister had already taken a decision on making Visakhapatnam as the executive capital of the state.
“In the coming days, all the administrative works will commence from Visakhapatnam,” he said.
“The chief minister is coming to Visakhapatnam on December 28 to participate in Visakha Utsav. He will lay foundation for the developmental works worth Rs 1,290 crore,” Sai Reddy said.
He said the YSRC was planning to make use of this occasion to give a rousing welcome to Jagan in the wake of his announcement on making the port city as the executive capital.
Since this would be the first visit of Jagan to Visakhapatnam after declaring it as the executive capital, he called upon the people of north-coastal Andhra and also the MLAs, MLCs and MPs and all the other public representatives of the region to give an unprecedented welcome to the chief minister.
“It will be a historic welcome. A human chain will be organised for a length of 24 km from Visakhapatnam airport to give guard of honour for the chief minister. The entire programme will last three hours,” he said.
He asked all the public representatives of north-coastal Andhra to accord a thanks-giving reception to Jagan in an unprecedented manner that would remain a memorable event in the history of Andhra Pradesh.
