Roundup: Jagan wraps up campaign in Pithapuram

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy concluded his election campaign in Pithapuram on Saturday with strong criticism of actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan for forming what he termed an unholy alliance with the BJP and TDP President N. Chandrababu Naidu, who he said had betrayed the public during his 14-year tenure as Chief Minister.

Addressing Pawan Kalyan as "Dattaputrudu," Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the actor-turned-politician of treating marriages like vehicles that he changes every five years.

He questioned whether women could approach Kalyan for help if he won in Pithapuram, noting,

"When he suffered from a cold, he sought treatment in Hyderabad." Reddy made these remarks during a road show.

After suffering significant defeats in the 2019 elections in Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram, "Dattaputrudu" has now arrived in Pithapuram to contest, according to the Chief Minister.

He promised to appoint YSRCP candidate Vanga Geetha, currently contesting against Kalyan, as Deputy Chief Minister if she wins the election.

Reddy criticized Naidu for failing to fulfill promises made in the 2014 manifesto and for his alliance with Pawan Kalyan and the BJP.

He urged voters to consider their choices carefully before casting their ballots on May 13.

"If you vote for your child (Jagan), all the welfare schemes will continue, and each household will continue to witness overall development. If you vote for Naidu and his unholy alliance, all welfare schemes will stop, and you will be cheated again. This is Naidu’s past history and track record," he warned.

At Kaikaluru in Eluru district, he called TDP's 2014 manifesto a clear example of Naidu's deceitful tactics, emphasizing how he would lie to gain power.

Once in power, Naidu would "play all sorts of dirty tricks with the same people who voted for him," he said, cautioning the electorate not to be swayed by Naidu's false promises.

In Chilakaluripeta, Palnadu district, Reddy highlighted the government's efforts over the past 59 months, with the YSRCP depositing Rs 2.7 lakh crores directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts.

"I ensured doorstep delivery of rations and old-age pensions. I ensured the implementation of 99% of my manifesto promises," he asserted.

The current government prioritized self-employment and farmer support through Rythu Bharosa, Rythu Bima, RBK centers, and nine hours of uninterrupted electricity supply.

"Have you ever seen such a credible and transparent government before? Remember, this election will decide your future, so vote wisely!" he added.
