A retired official of the Telangana state information and public relations department is most likely to be appointed as the national media advisor of the Andhra Pradesh government headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, according to reports in a section of media.
The post of national media advisor was created during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy government and senior journalist Devulapalli Amar was appointed in the post. However, Amar used to operate from Hyderabad, while having his associate to work in Delhi.
According to the media reports, the Chandrababu Naidu-led coalition government, too, is following the footsteps of the Jagan government to have national media advisor.
It is learnt a retired official from Telangana B Rajamouli is lobbying for the post and most likely to be appointed shortly.
This official, who worked in various capacities in the information and public relations department, was a close associate of former Telugu Desam Party leader and present BRS leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
Because of his lobbying skills, Rajamouli was appointed as director of Information and Public relations during the K Chandrasekhar Rao government in 2022 and allegedly made big money through advertisements.
He was a sort of big loyalist for KCR and was allegedly blackmailing the media houses which did not toe the BRS line. His appointment at the time faced severe criticism.
Now, it is learnt Rajamouli is trying for the national media advisor post in AP through Errabelli, who still has good relations with chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
There are also claims that Rajamouli has requested permission to operate from Hyderabad as his base if appointed.
The TDP has long been known for its stronghold over national media management, and the establishment of a Telangana person as National Media Advisor is sparking discussions.
