As expected, rebel YSR Congress party MLA from Nellore (rural) assembly constituency Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy turned against his own party in the assembly on the second day of the budget session.
Soon after the commencement of the question hour, Kotamreddy stood up displaying a placard referring to the problems of his constituency.
He did not heed to the appeal of Speaker Tammineni Sitaram that he should not disrupt the question hour proceedings.
“We have acknowledged your protest. If you want to convey the problems of your constituency, there is a proper method and the government will respond appropriately. I will take your problems to the notice of the government,” the Speaker said.
State finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and irrigation minister Ambati Rambabu also assured that the government would resolve the issues, if Kotamreddy brought the same to their notice.
Ambati said Kotamreddy had betrayed the government and he should not be given any chance to speak. If he continued the protest, he should be suspended, the minister said.
With Kotamreddy not heeding to the appeals of the government, the Speaker announced his suspension for the rest of the budget session.
Later, Sitaram also suspended as many as twelve TDP members for disrupting the proceedings. While Payyavula Kesav and Nimmala Ramanaidu were suspended for the entire session, the remaining 10 members were suspended for a day.
The suspended TDP members are: Nimmala Ramanaidu, Bendalam Ashok, Atchchennaidu, Adireddy Bhavani, Chinarajappa, Ganababu, Payyavula Keshav, Gadde Rammohan, Rama Raju, Eluri Sambasivarao, Dola Veeranjaneyaswamy and Ravi Kumar were suspended.
The Speaker said that they are being suspended for mis-leading the house and repeatedly obstructing the activities of the house. The TDP members raised slogans against the Speaker.
During the debate in the House on the issue of receiving the Governor, TDP MLA Payyavula Keshav repeatedly asked to give him a chance, as the ruling party members were grabbing the mike and speaking for more than 40 minutes.
