After a long time, YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy appeared before the media to launch a scathing attack on the ruling coalition government led by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Jagan, who has not been seen and heard for the last few weeks, appeared very aggressive in his attack on the Naidu government, questioning its failure to implement the pre-election promises in the name of Six Guarantees while indulging in massive borrowings.
The former chief minister alleged that the Naidu government had created new records in accumulating debt, taking loans amounting to Rs 80,000 crore within just nine months.
The government was preparing to take an additional Rs 52,000 crore in loans under the pretext of Amaravati’s construction, pushing the state into a debt trap.
Jagan recalled that the TDP had campaigned under the slogan "Babu's Surety – Future Guarantee", but after nine months, it had turned into "Babu's Surety – Guaranteed Betrayal."
He criticized that during the election campaign, the ruling leaders trivialized the YSRCP governance by stating that pressing a button was a significant achievement.
He accused them of mocking even elderly people by saying that pressing a button was no big deal.
He further attacked the government over the ‘Super Six’ promises, alleging that they campaigned from door to door, assuring Rs 15,000 for each individual and even issued bonds to households as guarantees for their promises.
Jagan questioned the government, asking why they had failed to implement these promises and whom the public should now hold accountable.
He demanded answers regarding the fate of the given promises and the bonds distributed to the people.
Jagan also accused the coalition government of reducing the number of jobs in village and ward secretariats.
He claimed that despite accumulating Rs 1.45 lakh crore in debt, the government had failed to fulfill any of its promises under the Super Six schemes.
He questioned where such a massive amount of money had gone if not towards implementing welfare schemes.
He alleged that instead of creating new employment opportunities, the government was terminating existing jobs. He pointed out that 2.6 lakh volunteers had lost their positions, and 18,000 employees working in liquor shops had also been removed from their jobs.
“We shall expose all these failures and Babu’s betrayal to the people in the coming days,” Jagan said.
