
Finally, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Andhra Pradesh police probing the alleged liquor scam that took place during the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy regime has declared Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy alias Raj Kasireddy, former IT advisor to the government as the prime accused in the case.
According to official sources, the SIT named Raj Kasireddy as Accused No. 1 (A-1) in the liquor scam as per the first information report registered at the Mangalagiri CID police station under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The sources said in all, as many as 29 individuals have been named as accused in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case and Raj Kasireddy as the prime accused.
The SIT police, who arrested Raj Kasireddy soon after his arrival from Goa at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, Hyderabad, shifted him to Vijayawada. The police interrogated him till Tuesday evening.
“After the mandatory medical examination at the Vijayawada government hospital, the police will produce him before the court for judicial remand late in the night,” a police official said.
Apparently, former YSRCP general secretary and ex-Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy provided all the necessary information along with relevant documents to the SIT authorities to establish that it was Raj Kasireddy who was the mastermind behind the liquor scam.
“All monetary transactions in the liquor business were handled by Raj Kasireddy. I told the SIT authorities that only he would be able to tell who were the beneficiaries of the money collected by him,” Sai Reddy told reporters.
He described Raj Kasireddy as a criminal and cunning person.
“He cheated the government and the public, reportedly created new liquor brands using three companies and sold them,” he said.
