Rahul to rope in KVP to revitalise Cong in AP?

Senior Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao, who played a major role in the party and the government during the regime of former chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in combined Andhra Pradesh, is likely to be back into action soon.

According to reports in a section of media, the Congress high command is learnt to have entrusted the task of revitalising the party in Andhra Pradesh to KVP, who has good relations with various sections of people, including leaders who jumped into the YSR Congress party.

A couple of days ago, former All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi held a meeting of senior party leaders from Andhra Pradesh and discussed the steps to reactivate the party in the state.

He obtained the feedback from them on the state of affairs of the party in AP and sought their suggestions on how to strengthen the party.

They told him that the Congress would have to get back the support of SCs, STs and minorities, who had shifted their loyalty to the YSRC.

Reports said Rahul had detailed discussions with KVP and also former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.

He asked KVP to take the responsibility of working out a strategy to take on Jagan Mohan Reddy government and revive the party.

He also asked KVP to work out a strategy to win back the confidence of SCs, STs and minorities.

He suggested that the secret understanding between YSRC and Bharatiya Janata Party be thoroughly exposed among the people so as to wean away these sections from the YSRC.

Rahul wanted KVP to prepare an action plan in consultation with various sections of the party and submit a comprehensive report to the high command.

He also told them to come out with a strategy to neutralise Jagan by next elections.
