Rahul paying penalty for his sins, says Sai Reddy

It appears YSR Congress party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his close aide – party general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy have not forgotten the humiliation they had meted out in the hands of the Congress party 10 years ago.

Both Jagan and Sai Reddy were forced to be behind the bars for 16 months after the Central Bureau of Investigation foisted cases against them, allegedly at the behest of Congress, for the simple reason that they had refused to bow down before the high command.

The cases are still haunting Jagan and Sai Reddy, who were grilled by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.

Both of them know how humiliating it would be to sit before the ED and CBI authorities for hours together being grilled on charges of amassing illegal assets and money laundering.

A decade after, the Congress high command is now in the same position as Jagan and Sai Reddy were in 2012.

Both Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi have been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate authorities for questioning for money laundering in the National Herald case.

Though Sonia Gandhi has managed to escape appearing before the ED authorities because of her ill-health, Rahul Gandhi is forced to undergo thorough grilling by the ED in the case for the last two days. There is a possibility that Rahul might be arrested by the CBI in a day or two.

Now, Sai Reddy is laughing up his sleeves over Rahul Gandhi’s plight. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, the YSRC general secretary said the Congress leader was paying a penalty for his sins committed in the past, apparently referring to the Congress high command implicating him and Jagan in the corruption cases.

“The Karma philosophy is now haunting Rahul Gandhi. He has to pay for the sings he has committed,” Sai Reddy said.

Defending the Narendra Modi government for unleashing the CBI and ED against Rahul Gandhi, the YSRC leaders said he didn’t think the Centre was resorting to witch-hunt of the Congress leaders.

“The questioning is being done based on the public interest litigation filed by Subrahmanian Swamy. There is absolutely no politics by the BJP in this regard,” Sai Reddy said, supporting the saffron party’s arguments.
