Raghuveera back in active politics with TDP?

Raghuveera back in active politics with TDP?

It has been a long time since one has heard about former minister and senior Congress leader from Anantapur district N Raghuveera Reddy.

After relinquishing the post of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, Raghuveera has gone into a political hibernation, keeping away from all political activities.

He has confined himself to his favourite pastime activity – agriculture in his native village.

At the same time, Raghuveera has also turned spiritual. He has grown beard like a spiritual guru and played a key role in the restoration of 1200-year old temple of Lord Neelakanteshwara at his Neelakanthapuram village of Madakasira constituency.

Pictures of the PCC president supervising the temple construction and his agriculture activities, besides him playing with his grandchildren surfaced in the social media in the recent past.

Now that the temple was consecrated recently and Raghuveera has become relatively free, the talk of his return to active politics has been doing rounds in Anantapuram political circles.

According to reports in a section of media, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has been seriously trying to bring Raghuveera into the party, since the Congress has been virtually wiped out in the state.

Naidu showered praises on Raghuveera for his efforts in restoration of ancient temple and his dedication towards social service.

Not only that, he deputed former MLA and present Tadipatri municipal chairman J C Prabhakar Reddy to Neelakanthapuram to hold talks with Raghuveera.

Prabhakar Reddy is learnt to have convinced the former PCC chief to join the TDP to step up fight against the Jagan Mohan Reddy government.

All said and done, Raghuveera commands a lot of respect in his Kalyanadurgam constituency and his entry would definitely strengthen the TDP in the district.

In the coming days, more TDP leaders are expected to meet Raghuveera to request him to join the party. As of now, Raghuveera has not spelt out his stand on politics.

Interestingly, the Congress high command, too, has started wooing Raghuveera to return to the party.

So far, he has not resigned from the Congress, though he has been staying away from all political activities.

It is learnt Raghuveera got a call from the high command to come to Delhi and discuss the steps to revive the glory of the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh.

The high command is seriously contemplating overhauling the APCC and as part of that, it wants to give some top position to Raghuveera.

It remains to be seen whether Raghuveera will remain in the Congress and strengthen it or take the TDP bait.
