In yet another sharp attack on her brother and YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y S Sharmila on Friday found fault with him for deciding to boycott the coming assembly session starting November 11.
Speaking to reporters at Machilipatnam, Sharmila said the elected members of the assembly had the responsibility to attend the assembly to represent the issues of the people of their constituencies.
“If they don’t want to come to the assembly, whether it is Jagan Mohan Reddy or his party MLAs, they should resign from their assembly membership. If they don’t have the guts to come to the state assembly, why should they cling to their posts?” she asked.
Telugu Desam Party spokesman and MLC B Ramgopal Reddy also lashed out at the YSRCP for backtracking on contesting the MLC elections from graduates’ constituency and deciding to boycott the state assembly session.
“What is the point in running a political party without contesting the elections and attending the assembly sessions? As an MLA of Pulivendula, Jagan has the responsibility to represent the issues of his constituency in the assembly?” he asked.
Reddy demanded that Jagan should resign from his assembly membership so that another person could represent the Pulivendula constituency.
“It’s shameful on his part to stay away from the assembly proceedings,” he said.
