With senior IPS officer Kasireddy Venkata Rajendra Nath Reddy aka KVRN Reddy being appointed as the new Director General of Police of Andhra Pradesh in place of Gautam Sawang, all eyes are on who would be the new intelligence chief.
KVRN Reddy has been the state intelligence chief since April 2020. He will be assuming charge as the new DGP at the police headquarters at Mangalagiri on at 9 am on Saturday. So, the Jagan government has to find a new intelligence chief in his place.
According to sources, the chief minister has zeroed in on another senior IPS officer P Seetha Ramanjaneyulu, better known as PSR Anjaneyulu, as the new intelligence chief. He is a little controversial officer but close to the powers-that-be.
Meanwhile, there are reports that outgoing DGP Gautam Sawang has finally agreed to take up the post of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission chairman post.
After he gave the consent, the file has been sent to Raj Bhavan for the approval of Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan.
It means, Sawang will be foregoing his 17 months of service in the police and accepting a political appointment.
