Speculations are rife in a section of media that YSR Congress party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy might seek the help of popular political strategist and founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) Prashant Kisor to work out strategies for the party for the next assembly elections in the state in 2029.
According to these reports, the YSRCP president has decided to dump the present I-PAC team led by Rishi Raj Singh, which he believed has completely let down in the last elections by projecting a wrong picture about the party position.
Before the announcement of the results, Jagan assured that his party would continue the association with I-PAC that worked hard for the party in the elections. However, soon after the results, the I-PAC team wound up its shop and vacated the Vijayawada office.
Sources said there have been suggestions to Jagan that it would be better to recall the services of Prashant Kishor, who has better understanding about the ground situation.
He was the one who had accurately predicted that the YSRCP is going to face a big defeat in the elections and even analysed the reasons for the same.
There is also a talk that it was Prashant Kishor’s idea to the Telugu Desam Party to campaign against land titling act and liquor policy. And that made a huge difference between the YSRCP and the TDP.
So, the YSRCP leaders are said to be advising Jagan to reengage the services of Prashant Kishor, who can give better ideas to lead the party to victory in the next elections.
For that, Jagan might have to compromise on his plans like “Nava Ratnaalu” and adopt new strategies on being accessible to the people and the party cadre, sources said.
So far, Jagan has not taken any decision to contact Prashant Kishor.
But one wonders even of the YSRCP wants to engage him, whether he would be available to do full-time consulting for the party, as he, himself, is busy with the Bihar elections.
If his Jan Suraj Party doesn’t achieve any success in the Bihar elections, Prashant Kishor might be back to his consultancy activities and then, he might consider Jagan’s offer, sources added.
