Pothina Mahesh, who till the other day an ardent fan of power star Pawan Kalyan and a hardcore activist of Jana Sena Party, has now shifted his loyalties to YSR Congress party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Mahesh, who quit the Jana Sena Party a couple of days ago, officially joined the YSRCP on Wednesday in the presence of Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s night stay at Gantavaripalem in Guntur district.
Mahesh, who previously served as Jana Sena's Constituency In-Charge from Vijayawada West, had been sulking for the last one week over the allotment of the seat to the Bharatiya Janata Party, which announced the candidature of Y S Chowdary alias Sujana Chowdary.
He has been nurturing the constituency for the last three years and was even promised by Pawan Kalyan that he would be given the ticket. But due to alliance issues, the Jana Sena had to forego the seat for the BJP.
Mahesh, who always treated Pawan as a god, did not lose much time in attacking the latter.
“He has no respect or concern for his own party and its flag, but is preferring the other party flags. I have no option but to seek my political rebirth elsewhere,” he said.
The former Jana Sena leader was all praise for Jagan who he described as a leader who stands firm on his word and displays bravery, much like a lion.
"I will go to the leader who comes alone like a lion," he stated on Tuesday and vowed to work against Sujana Chowdary in the coming elections.
Along with Mahesh, several other leaders including former P Gannavaram MLA Pamula Rajeswari Devi from Jana Sena Party and former TDP MLA from Rayachoti R Ramesh Kumar Reddy also joined the YSRCP.
