The BJP and Jana Sena have been making a hue and cry over the chariot burning incident at Antarvedi only to instigate Kapu community and polarise their votes for their political benefits.
This was the allegation made by former Amalapuram MP and senior Dalit leader G V Harsh Kumar. He said Antarvedi temple falls under Razole assembly constituency represented by Jana Sena Party MLA Rapaka Varaprasad, who had shifted loyalties to the YSR Congress party later.
“As Rapaka defected to the YSRC, the BJP-Jana Sena combine want to regain their hold in the constituency by consolidating their Kapu vote bank. That is why, they are trying to take maximum mileage of Antarvedi incident by politicising it,” Harsh Kumar said.
He alleged that while BJP was banking on exploiting religious sentiments, the Jana Sena was rotten with casteism.
“Since the new BJP president Somu Veerraju also hails from Kapu community, he is trying to bring the entire Kapu community together. His objective is to see Chiranjeevi as the CM of the state,” the former MP said.
While appreciating the decision to entrust the chariot burning case to the CBI, Harsh Kumar wondered why the government had not done the same in the case of tonsuring of a Dalit youth in Sitanagaram in East Godavari district. He alleged that Jagan was taking decisions in favour of his favourite castes and religions.
