In the wake of YSRCP's crushing defeat, disappointment and despair swept through party leaders and activists.
Seven months ago, with the alliance gaining overwhelming power and YSRCP sliding into political obscurity, fears of an uncertain future gripped the party. Some leaders even announced their withdrawal from politics.
The first such declaration came from former Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani.
Having won twice as a TDP MP, he resigned due to differences with TDP leader Lokesh and joined YSRCP before the elections.
Supported by Y S Jagan, he contested from Vijayawada but lost in the alliance wave. Following his defeat, he respectfully announced his retirement from politics.
Similar announcements followed from actors Ali and Posani Krishna Murali. While Ali avoided criticizing opponents, Posani was vocal, even facing legal cases. Eventually, he too quit politics.
The biggest surprise was YSRCP Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy's exit, despite having three and a half years left in his term. He announced plans to take up farming, sparking widespread discussion.
For now, these leaders have embraced political retirement, while others, like former minister Dharmana Prasad, remain silent, waiting for the right time.
Among these YSRCP leaders who have taken political retirement, Kesineni Nani is the only one who contested election. Notably, the others are not.
We have to see who follows next?
