Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday requested the party leaders, who could not get the tickets for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections for various reasons including alliance compulsions, to bear with him and cooperate with the party to win the elections.
Addressing the party candidates for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections, the TDP chief said he was very much aware of the injustice caused to some of the serious ticket aspirants, but he could not accommodate everybody due to several compulsions and equations.
“For the benefit of the state, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan came forward with an intention not to split the votes and favour YSRCP. He did politics according to a method. The TDP contested in the elections with alliances when in need and contested without alliances as well based on the existing conditions,” he pointed out.
He said all the three parties – TDP, BJP, and Jana Sena have credibility.
“We may not be able to give tickets to all the leaders. We work for recognition in politics and work hard to do service to the people,” he said.
Naidu said due to alliances, it wasn’t possible to give seats to some leaders. They worked hard for the party and even went to jail. There are such aspirants in BJP and Janasena as well, who want to contest in the elections
“The TDP failed to give seats to 31 leaders due to alliances. On the other hand, a similar situation in Janasena and BJP where they failed to accommodate seats where they contested the last elections. It doesn’t mean the candidates who didn’t get seats didn’t work hard for the party. They worked hard for the party, but for the benefit of the people and state, we kept winnability as criteria,” he said.
He said to win the elections, the three parties settled the candidates by jointly holding talks based on their strengths.
“We shall protect the interests of those who did not figure in the lists and see that they would be suitably rewarded once we come to power,” Naidu assured.
