Pinnelli's key aide arrested, remanded

After being in a virtual hibernation for over six months, former Macharla municipal chairman Turaka Kishore, a close aide of former Macharla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The Vijayapuri South police took him into custody at Jayapuri Colony in Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, after coming to know that he was coming there to meet Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy.

After the arrest, medical tests were conducted at Gurazala Government Hospital, and he was subsequently taken to the Macharla court for judicial remand for two weeks.

Following the violence during the general elections, cases were registered against Pinnelli's associates, and on May 22, the Pinnelli brothers fled to Hyderabad. Since then, their associates have also gone into hiding.

Pinnelli's brothers secured anticipatory bail, and Kishore had reportedly been living with his brother Srikanth, a software engineer, in Bengaluru for six months. Acting on information that Kishore was visiting Hyderabad to meet Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy, the Vijayapuri South police team detained him and his brother Srikanth and brought them back to Macharla.

They were interrogated at an undisclosed location being brought to Macharla. Kishore faces three attempted murder cases and seven other charges, including the attack on TDP leaders Buddha Venkanna and Bonda Uma during the local body elections in 2022 and smashing their vehicles with rods and sticks.

After this incident, the YSRCP made him Macharla municipality chairman, a post which he had held for two years. In December 2022, too, Kishore was involved in the burning of the TDP office and looting of the TDP leaders’ houses in Macharla town.

During the 2024 assembly elections, too, Kishore and his men allegedly made physical attacks on the TDP leaders. After the election results, he and his followers fled Macharla.
