Elections are all about political rivals but not enemies. Leaders of political parties contesting against one another in the elections should forget their rivalries once the elections are over. That is the beauty of democracy.
One such scene was witnessed in the lobbies of Andhra Pradesh state assembly session on Tuesday.
Telugu Desam Party MLC and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh stumbled upon YSR Congress party MLA from Mangalagiri constituency Alla Ramakrishna Reddy.
Lokesh, the former IT minister of Andhra Pradesh, greeted Ramakrishna Reddy and shook hands with him. He congratulated the YSRC MLA for his victory in the recent elections.
Ramakrishna Reddy reciprocated by saying thanks and wished Lokesh all the best. Both exchanged pleasantries.
In the recent elections, Lokesh lost to Ramakrishna Reddy by a margin of over 5,200 votes in a bitter battle.
Both of them traded charges against each other in the elections, but once the elections are over, they became normal. By greeting each other in the assembly premises, they proved that democracy is healthy!
It is better Lokesh learns a lesson or two from Ramakrishna Reddy in politics and also administration.
