The monthly pension is all set to come handy for the poor who have been hit by lockdown due to the coronavirus.
The AP government is getting ready to deliver the monthly-pensions despite the coronavirus and the government being busy with the health issues.
The government had already released provisions for the poor, which are being delivered through the fair price shops across the state.
The poor were given rice, dall and other basic required food material as they have been staying home due to lockdown.
Now the pension, which would be delivered at the door step of the beneficiaries across the state on April 1 would be coming as a greater relief.
The government plans to complete the distribution of pension in just two days all over the 13 districts and had almost readied the volunteers to handle the job.
Panchayat Raj principal secretary Gopalakrishna Dwivedi had already reviewed the arrangements for pension distribution with all the senior officials of the department on Monday.
He had directed all the 2.60 lakh volunteers spread over 13 districts to get ready with the gadgets to deliver the pensions at the door steps.
This time, the government had dropped the biometric and thumb impression requirement of the 60 lakh beneficiaries to receive pensions due to corona.
The government had already geotagged the photographs of the beneficiaries and all that the volunteers would have to do is to take a photograph of the beneficiary and upload it to the site before handing over the pension.
The volunteers have already been engaged in coronavirus enumeration across the state. The mechanism had come handy for the government to identify the foreign visitors, foreign returned Telugus besides the positive cases.
The government would lay its hands on the suspects and positive cases in no time only because of the presence of these volunteers, which had become a model in the country, particularly in the hours of crisis like corona.
