The Progressive Democratic Forum (PDF), formed by Left-parties affiliated with teachers unions in the Legislative Assembly, has been strong in both the teachers' and graduate MLC elections.
They have won a good number of MLC seats in both categories in the past, at least until the YSR Congress entered the battle in the Krishna-Guntur teachers' constituency.
This time, the battle was tough with the YSR Congress entering both the teachers' and graduates' constituencies. The opposition TDP also entered the graduates' constituencies.
In a bid to defeat the YSR Congress, the TDP forged an alliance with the PDF, asking them to give their second priority votes to the TDP candidates.
In return, the TDP promised to give first priority votes to the PDF candidates in the teachers' constituencies.
As agreed, the PDF voters gave their second priority votes to the TDP in all three graduate seats. The TDP won all three seats with the second priority votes given by the PDF voters.
But what is surprising, or rather the original style of Chandrababu Naidu, is that the TDP did not give its first or even second priority votes to the PDF in the teachers' constituencies.
Because of this breach of understanding, the PDF lost all three MLC seats to YSR Congress-sponsored candidates.
The PDF leaders, having understood the game plan of Chandrababu Naidu, are now cursing the TDP chief for betraying them.
Some of the PDF leaders say that Naidu is known for betrayal, and they were cheated by him in the MLC elections.
The big question now is whether the four MLAs who voted for the TDP in the MLC election will have their deals fulfilled or be betrayed by Naidu.
