At last, Jana Sena Party chief and power star Pawan Kalyan has agreed to campaign for retired IAS officer K Ratna Prabha, who is the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in the by-election to Tirupati parliamentary seat to be held on April 17.
According to senior Jana Sena leader and former assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar, the party president would tour in Tirupati on April 3 and campaign for the BJP-Jana Sena combine in the by-elections.
“Pawan will take out a padayatra from M R Palli Circle to Sankarambadi Circle in Tirupati town and later address a public meeting,” Manohar said.
This is the only day when Pawan will campaign for Ratna Prabha, though the campaign goes on till April 15.
“He is likely to tour Nellore in the second phase of campaign, but the date has not been fixed,” the Jana Sena leader said.
The BJP has high hopes on Pawan’s campaign in Tirupati, as there is a considerable Kapu vote bank in the constituency. Secondly, there has been no campaign strategy by the Jana Sena in Tirupati so far.
“There have been no meetings between BJP and Jana Sena Party leaders in Tirupati as of now. Except Pawan Kalyan, the BJP leaders have not contacted any of the Jana Sena leaders in the constituency. No efforts have been made so far to chalk out a joint action plan between the two,” a local reporter said.
The BJP leaders are hoping that Pawan’s campaign would bring the BJP, Jana Sena party workers together and the campaign would be smoother from then.
