Finally, Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan made it clear that he would not contest the Lok Sabha elections, as was being speculated in the media for quite some time.
He declared on Tuesday that he would contest only from Pithapuram assembly constituency and has no plans whatsoever to contest in the Lok Sabha elections from Kakinada, as was the talk in the media.
Pawan, however, admitted that the Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership had indeed asked him to consider contesting the Lok Sabha elections, apart from the assembly seat.
“But I said my first priority would be serving the state; only in the later years, I will consider serving the nation,” he said.
The Jana Sena Party chief declared the candidature of Tangella Uday Srinivas as the party candidate for Kakinada Lok Sabha seat.
Uday Srinivas, who owns a chain of tea outlets with the brand name “Tea Time,” has hitherto been in the in-charge of Pithapuram assembly constituency.
“Uday Srinivas has sacrificed his Pithapuram seat for me. So, I have decided to nominate him for the Kakinada Lok Sabha seat,” Pawan Kalyan said, adding that he was confident of winning the Pithapuram seat and enter the assembly.
The Jana Sena Party chief said all the three constituencies – Gajuwaka, Bhimavaram and Pithapuram were very important for him.
“But, I have chosen Pithapuram with the blessings of Lord Sri Pada Sri Vallabha. Hereafter, this is going to be my own place. I shall work for the state with Pithapuram,” he said.
He called for the unity of all the castes and communities in Pithapuram.
“I always believed that Kapus should play a big brother role in this constituency,” he added.
