A day after Jana Sena Party chief and actor Pawan Kalyan held a meeting with Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, the Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh sent an SOS to their national leadership.
BJP state president Somu Veerraju rushed to New Delhi to brief the high command over the latest developments.
The meeting of Naidu with Pawan Kalyan took place within a couple of hours after the latter expressing dissatisfaction over the attitude of the state BJP leaders.
Pawan told reporters at Vijayawada there was somehow something was wrong with the alliance with the BJP.
“I know it and even the BJP leadership knows it,” he said.
Stating that he had asked for a road map from the BJP for chalking out an action plan for the next elections, Pawan Kalyan said so far, the BJP leadership had not yet provided the same.
“I am now running short of time and I have to take a decision,” he said.
He said though he was not against the BJP or Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it did not mean he would go head over heels before the BJP. He also hinted that the political scenario of the state would take a new turn immediately.
Sensing that the alliance with Pawan Kalyan was on rocks, Veerraju rushed to Delhi and explained the developments to general secretary Shiv Prakash.
Sources from Delhi said the BJP high command told Veerraju that under any circumstances, the BJP should not lose the friendship with Jana Sena.
The BJP leadership reportedly told the state party president not make any hurried statements on Pawan-Naidu meeting but continued to maintain friendly relations with the power star for now.
Stating that the Andhra BJP should not appear panicky over the developments but watch out for the future developments.
“One should view it only as a sympathy generated in favour of Pawan Kalyan. There is no doubt about the alliance with Jana Sena and we should continue to give that clarity to the cadre of both the parties,” the high command told Veerraju.
It suggested that the BJP leaders should take Pawan Kalyan into confidence and discuss with him any issues that would strengthen the alliance.
“Let us know first what his objections are with the BJP and what exactly he want in the coming days,” sources quoting the BJP national leadership said.
