Pawan Kalyan demanding more seats from TDP?

Jana Sena Party president and power star Pawan Kalyan appears to have come to the feeling that his party’s graph has been steeply rising, going by the turnout at his public rallies in the name of Vaarahi Yatra in East and West Godavari districts.

Sources said he has been telling his party leaders that the Jana Sena Party would play a decisive role in the formation of the next government as it would get considerable number of assembly seats in the next elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Apparently, Pawan Kalyan’s political ally, the Bharatiya Janata Party, has told him that Jana Sena Party would get not less than 40-50 assembly seats and he could become a king maker. So, he thinks his bargaining capacity has definitely gone up, as is evident from the people’s response to his speeches.

Sources said if the alliance with the Telugu Desam Party materialises, Pawan Kalyan might ask for around 50 seats as part of seat sharing talks.

“Even if the TDP does hard bargaining, he will not accept less than 40 seats in key constituencies,” sources said.

If the BJP joins the alliance, it would ask for at least 20-25 seats. That would mean, the TDP will be left with around 110 seats to contest and it would be extremely difficult for the TDP to come to power on its own, unless the people decide to give a single digit to the Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress party.

Naidu knows that it is next to impossible to dislodge the YSRC by contesting such a meagre number of seats. And there is no guarantee that the Jana Sena Party will win at least 20 seats out of 40 seats allotted. The BJP is unlikely to win even a single seat.

Moreover, the Jana Sena Party and the BJP do not have the kind of cadre strength to win those seats allotted to them. In such a scenario, the TDP itself has to campaign for the alliance partners, if it has to achieve the objective of defeating the YSRC.

It will be interesting to see how this seat-sharing agreement works out.
