Pawan gets special invite from Modi, but not going

For quite some time, there have been reports that power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan is inching towards an alliance with the Telugu Desam Party and may break his present alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Even when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Bhimavaram on July 4 to launch the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Alluri Sitarama Raju, Pawan Kalyan chose to abstain from the function.

While everybody thought Pawan skipped the meeting after coming to know that he was not in the protocol list and he might not be allowed to share the dais with Modi, the Jana Sena chief himself later clarified that he had not gone to Bhimavaram only because the local MP Kanumuru Raghu Ramakrishna Raju was not invited to the event.

This led to the talk that Pawan is parting ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party, but it appears the saffron party doesn’t want to let him break the alliance with it and make friendship with the TDP.

On Friday, Pawan got the invite from top BJP leadership for attending a function in New Delhi to accord grand farewell to outgoing President of India Ramnath Kovind and welcome new President Droupadi Murmu.

The Jana Sena chief himself said in a statement that he had received a call from Modi and also Union home minister Amit Shah for the function.

Since Pawan is neither an MP nor an MLA and not even the president of a recognised political party, it must be definitely a personal invitation extended out of friendship.

But Pawan said he won’t be able to go to the function. While personally thanking Modi and Shah for calling him and inviting him to the event, he won’t be able to go to Delhi because of health reasons.

“It is a historic programme, which I would love to attend but I regret I cannot go due to health reasons,” he said.

Pawan fell sick after his visit to Mandapeta in Konaseema district to conduct Tenant Farmers’ Solidarity rally.

He was suffering from fever and hence, cancelled his Jana Sena Jana Vani programme, schedule to be held on Sunday.

It is not immediately known whether his decision to abstain from Delhi visit was part of his strategy to keep away from the BJP or really due to health reasons.
