After publicly expressing his ire at the police for their failure in protecting law and order and preventing crimes, Jana Sena Party president and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan took up the matter with Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
Soon after the completion of the official agenda of the cabinet, Pawan Kalyan reportedly raised the issue of failure of the police machinery with Naidu.
He said the YSRCP social media activists were posting vulgar and abusive comments against the government and the ministers.
“Yet, the police are behaving in a callous manner. It is unfortunate that the same police officers who were hyperactive during the Jagan Mohan Reddy regime, are still in key positions in the police department. Because of them, the government is getting a bad name,” Pawan told Naidu.
Some other ministers also made a similar complaint to Naidu saying the SPs were not responding to their calls properly.
“They are throwing the blame on lower-level cops like DSPs and CIs. The police had turned very callous and indifferent during the Jagan government,” another minister complained.
Naidu took serious note of their complaints and said he would set right the police department within a month, by regularly taking feedback from the cabinet colleagues.
He said there is no question of tolerating fake campaign and abusive posts on social media.
