Power star and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan on Friday admitted, albeit indirectly, that the Kapus had not voted for his party, but had voted in large numbers in favour of YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
In his second part of the interview for Jana Sena party workers released on Friday, Pawan said during the previous elections, the Kapus had voted for Jagan en masse in the last assembly elections, though he had not given any promise for extending reservations to Kapus under OBC quota, unlike his predecessor N Chandrababu Naidu of Telugu Desam Party.
“Jagan, in fact, did not take any diplomatic stand but categorically said he would not give any reservations to the Kapus. Yet, they had voted for him in a big way,” Pawan said.
He is now demanding that the chief minister should once again give a clarity to the people that he would not extend any reservations to Kapu community in education and employment under Other Backward Classes quota.
“Some sections are still hoping that Jagan might provide reservations for Kapus. So, it is better he gives clarity once again on the issue once again so that the Kapus would not have any hope on him. They should categorically declare that there is no question of entertaining the demand for Kapu quota,” Pawan said.
He also demanded that the government bring out a white paper on the funds allocated to the Kapu corporation and other such corporations and how much was spent on the beneficiaries.
