Opinion: My Take On Tirupathi YSRCP Candidate Gurumurthy

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has democratically conquered almost entire Andhra Pradesh from the grass root Panchayat level to Municipal and Corporations to the Assembly and the Parliament constituencies.

YSRCP is almost exercising monopoly in the state politics with no powerful opposition. This is the summit of success for any politician.

One has to be careful only when he is on the top. The decisions taken now decides the future.

It is needless to say that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is enjoying such a stardom in politics that any candidate fielded by him can win the election without any qualification or credibility. Everything will be fine as long as he doesn't take it to head.

Once upon a time, even NTR said when he was enjoying similar charisma, "Why do you ask about the candidate? Even my chappal can win the election when I field it".

Well, that was the height of audacity. Even Jagan Mohan Reddy must be in such mood. What mistakes are prone to happen in such situation? Let me share my opinion.

Jagan Mohan Reddy had given the Tirupathi MP by-election ticket to Gurumurthy, the physiotherapist  who has no political background. He represents the common man and it looks ideal to do so morally.

But after watching Gurumurthy's public speech I understood that there will be many efficient speakers who can articulate issues with logical conviction among the common men, and why only he?

There are many educated powerful speakers with thorough knowledge on local issues among the SC population in Tirupathi region. Gurumurthy is not the only choice to fill the space.

Gurumurthy wins for sure as per the exit poll. But once he goes to the Parliament what will he voice out? Can he address the issues of his region or can he add glory to his party being an effective public speaker? The might of the party depends not only on the party head all the time. The efficient cadre who has public image also is needed to the party to regain power again and again.

Whenever the opportunity comes, the members like TDP's Ram Mohan Naidu, BJP's Smrithi Irani and Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Independent member Navneet Kaur keep rocking the Parliament with their mind blowing speeches. YSRCP needs such powerful representatives.

I wish YS Jagan Mohan Reddy takes care of this factor when he chooses candidate next time.

Badvel MLA G Venkata Subbiah passed away recently. A by election will be on cards for this constituency as well. Let us hope YS Jagan Mohan Reddy picks up the right common man who can give a powerful political debut with effective public speech and command over political issues.
