Now, CBI to probe insider trading in Amaravati!

It looks like YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy wants to leave no stone unturned in sending his bête noire Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to jail at any cost.

The Jagan government on Monday entrusted the investigation into the alleged irregularities in land pooling and insider trading in Amaravati capital region to Central Bureau of Investigation.

“Owing to the high profile nature of the accused involved and the need to carryout investigation in the  inter-state and international areas, it was felt that this is a fit subject to be investigated by a national agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation,” a government order said.

The government sent a reference and the report of the Cabinet sub-committee to the Ministry of Department of Personnel and Training, with a request for CBI to take up investigation.

“The in-principle consent of the Government of Andhra Pradesh under Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 has been conveyed,” the order said.

Apparently, Jagan is not satisfied with investigation by Special Investigation Team constituted by him to probe into the irregularities of Naidu.

The SIT led by senior IPS officer Dr Kolli Raghuram Reddy, DIG (intelligence) was constituted on February 21 to probe the alleged irregularities, corruption, nepotism and pilferage of funds in the land pooling and other issues related to Amaravati capital region.

The SIT has already started investigation into the matter and was notified as a police station with state-wide jurisdiction.

“During the investigation, it emerged that for the commission of the above mentioned offences, the funds were channelized by certain people living in states outside Andhra Pradesh and even abroad,” the order said.
