Not keen on CM post, says Pawan

At every public rally he has been addressing, power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan has been appealing the people to give him a chance to rule the state so that he can root out corruption and provide a clean government.

Naturally, the power star has been nurturing the ambition of becoming the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. But he knows that he is only playing to the galleries to give boost to his followers and party cadre.

He is aware that he doesn’t stand any chance of becoming the CM with the little number of seats his would be winning in alliance with the Telugu Desam Party or Bharatiya Janata Party or both.

So, when the national media reporters in Delhi on Tuesday asked Pawan Kalyan about his ambition of becoming the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, he made it clear that he does not attach much importance to the post of the chief minister.

“The chief minister’s post is not important for me and it would be decided after the election results to whom the plum post should go. It depends on the number of seats won by the parties. At present, my whole ambition is to pull down the Jagan Mohan Reddy government,” the power star said.

Stating that the people only wanted the political parties which stood by them, Pawan Kalyan said there was a chance of the TDP joining the BJP-JSP combine to fight the 2024 general elections together.

“There is a need for a united struggle by all political parties to send the ruling YSR Congress Party packing in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

Pawan Kalyan’s mission appears to impress upon the BJP to include the TDP in the poll alliance as the latter continued to be the main opposition party and the JSP-BJP alliance would greatly benefit by the pact.

Also, unless it was ensured that the anti-incumbency vote is not split, it would be difficult to dethrone the YSRCP, he feels.
