Known for his straightforward talk, former Anantapur MP and senior Telugu Desam Party leader J C Diwakar Reddy on Monday described YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy as an “undaunted leader.”
Speaking to reporters, JC said after watching the results of the gram panchayat and municipal elections, it was very much clear that there was no leader in the state who could take on Jagan Mohan Reddy in the near future.
“In the coming by-elections to Tirupati parliamentary seat, too, YSRC is going to win hands down. There is no doubt about it,” Diwakar Reddy said.
He also had a piece of advice for the Bharatiya Janata Party which was dreaming of growing as a force in Andhra Pradesh.
“It is time BJP led by Narendra Modi join hands with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu once again. Otherwise, it is impossible for the BJP to survive,” he said.
He said the BJP should take the support of Chandrababu Naidu to come to power in the state. Only Naidu can help the BJP realise its dream, he said.
Diwakar Reddy also described the TDP’s fight for Amaravati as the capital city as a futile exercise.
“When the people of Thullur themselves voted for the YSRC indicating that they do not want Amaravati as the capital, why should our party be worried about it? The municipal and gram panchayat election results clearly proved that the people of Amaravati do not want their capital here,” he said.
He, however, described Chandrababu Naidu as a visionary and a hardworking politician.
“I don’t find any other leader who strives so hard. I am not praising him just like that, as I don’t get anything from him. He won’t give me even a single contract. But I am speaking the truth. It is surprising that the people of the state did not understand his vision,” Diwakar Reddy said.
