The Bharatiya Janata Party national leadership is understood to have categorically told its leaders in Andhra Pradesh that there is no question of joining hands with the Telugu Desam Party again in any manner.
This was made clear by none other than former national BJP president and Union home minister Amit Shah during his three-day visit to Tirupati to take part in the Souther Zonal Council meeting.
Shah had a long chat with the state BJP leaders including state president Somu Veerraju, state BJP in-charge Sunil Deodhar and even Rajya Sabha members Sujana Chowdary and C M Ramesh, who defected from the TDP, during his stay in Hotel Taj on Saturday night.
He said the BJP would not enter into any kind of alliance with the TDP now or in future. At the same time, it would also not have any pact with the YSR Congress party.
“Our stand is we should maintain equal distance from both the parties,” he told them.
Shah, however, advised the state BJP leaders to continue the alliance with the Jana Sena Party as long as they can, unless the latter has any other plans.
“The BJP-Jana Sena will fight the next elections together. This message has to go into the people,” he said.
So, the attempts of the TDP leadership to get closer to the BJP would only be futile.
Though the TDP leaders claimed that Shah was sympathetical towards Naidu after the recent attacks by YSRC cadre on the TDP offices, his statement only indicated that he is not going to entertain the TDP anymore.
