Former MLA and Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna is learnt to have decided to stay back in the Telugu Desam Party for now, as it appears there are no takers for him in other parties for getting the ticket to contest the upcoming elections.
There were attempts to bring Vangaveeti into the YSR Congress party by his friends Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who used to meet him regularly and take part in the birth and death anniversaries of his father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga.
But it did not succeed, as he did not get any assurance from the party to get the ticket from any of the constituencies in Vijayawada. He earlier represented Vijayawada (East) and he also tried his luck from Vijayawada (central).
There was a talk recently that Vangaveeti would join the Jana Sena Party and that he might get the ticket from Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency. He also met Jana Sena Party leader Nadendla Manohar sometime back that fuelled the speculations.
But no such development has happened, though Jana Sena Party was allotted Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat. Even in the TDP, Vangaveeti could not get the chance of getting any ticket, as party president N Chandrababu Naidu has his own equations.
Nobody knows what happened later, but as nothing was heard about Vangaveeti later. However, he surfaced on Tuesday again and held a meeting with TDP candidate for Vijayawada Lok Sabha seat Kesineni Sivanath alias Chinni.
Apparently, Naidu appointed Vangaveeti as the star campaigner of the party across the state and asked him to lead the campaign in Kapu belts. He is learnt to have assured some good position to Vangaveeti once the TDP comes to power.
Vangaveeti also met BJP candidate for Vijayawada (West) Sujana Chowdary and various Kapu community leaders. He agreed to extend his services to the NDA candidates in the coming elections.
