No security lapse in attack on Jagan?

No security lapse in attack on Jagan?

There is absolutely no security lapse on the part of the police in the Saturday’s incident of stone pelting at YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the police officials said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters, Vijayawada commissioner of police Kanthi Rana Tata said adequate security had been provided to the chief minister during the Memantha Siddham bus yatra and there was no lapse from any side.

“There are four platoons of forces from Andhra Pradesh State Police (APSP), besides additional security cover from Octopus and CM Security. Yet, the attack took place,” Tata said.

On lack of power supply in the area during Jagan’s yatra, the commissioner  said there were several cable lines in the area and it was not possible to remove all lines when the chief minister was atop his bus.

“It is quite common to snap power supply when the height of the vehicle roof was low, since it might cause short circuit if the live wires come in touch with the vehicle,” he said, adding that disconnecting power supply is part of the security protocol.

The commissioner said an unidentified miscreant had thrown a stone directly at the chief minister at Ajit Singh Nagar, with an intention to hurt him.

“We are going through the CCTV footage and also the mobile phone records of some individuals there. Since there was a heavy crowd and no power supply, he used the opportunity to throw stone at the CM,” he said.

He said the stone throwing was very much powerful and had it hit the chief minister at a sensitive point, it would have been fatal.

“We have formed eight teams to identify the accused. We are confident of arresting the accused soon,” he added.
