No light at the end of tunnel for Naidu?

No light at the end of tunnel for Naidu?

Telugu Desam Party rank and file observed “Kranti tho kanthi” (Revolt with light) protest on Saturday night for five minutes from 7 pm, in solidarity with their party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was arrested in skill development scam.

It appeared to be a forced programme, as there was no response from the people, who were asked to switch off their lights for five minutes and light candles or switch on mobile torches, vehicle lights etc.

Only TDP leaders and activists participated in the programme in a few numbers but it had hardly any impact on the common people. Needless to say, such non-serious protests will not evoke any sympathy from the people.

While the purpose of the programme is to convey to the people that they are living in a dark regime of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the TDP president is going through a dark phase in his life and there is no light for him at the end of the tunnel.

Naidu’s judicial remand has been extended till October 19 and according to legal experts, it is highly unlikely that he would get the bail on Monday.

His special leave petition in the Supreme Court will come up for hearing on October 10 and it might take a few days for the hearings to complete.

In the meantime, the Crime Investigation Department authorities are ready with some other cases against Naidu and they will go all out to see that he will not come out of the four walls of the jail for another few weeks.

Under these circumstances, Naidu will have no option but to cool his heels within the prison for at least one month. Till such time, it will be a tough time for the TDP chief!
