Senior YSR Congress party leader and former Andhra Pradesh finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy on Friday described the state annual budget 2025-26 has no clarity on how the state government is going to implement its Super Six promises.
Speaking to reporters, Buggana said there is a complete mismatch between the allocations made in the budget for some important schemes and the actual number of beneficiaries.
“For example, the budgetary allocation for Annadata Sukhibhava is insufficient to cover all the eligible farmers in the state,” he said.
He wondered how this gap would be fulfilled and expressed apprehensions that the government might reduce the number of beneficiaries.
“This shows the lack of sincerity on part of the coalition government,” he said.
Buggana said be it Talliki Vandanam, Deepam, Annadata Sukhibhava or others, the amount sanctioned is far less that the actual requirement and it has been tucked away deep inside.
“We have to put in much effort to trace it. While the budget booklet is colourful, content wise, it lacks clarity,” he said.
He said there has been discontent among the people as they are not getting what was promised during elections and are recounting the days of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy governance where the due amount would be promptly coming into their accounts on the dot.
“With no proper procurement policy, farmers are selling their produce in distress at lower prices to private buyers. Employees who were eagerly waiting for DA, leave encashment and other benefits promised during elections are a disappointed lot,” he said.
The former finance minister also pointed out that the off-budget borrowings have increased in the coalition government and the GSDP has shown a negative growth.
Summing it up, the figures mentioned in the budget speech do not add up and are far less than the amount required to the number of beneficiaries, he said.
