Senior YSR Congress party leader and former MP Y V Subba Reddy was on Wednesday sworn in as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board for a second consecutive term.
TTD executive officer Dr K S Jawahar Reddy administered the oath to Subba Reddy at Bangaru Vakili insider the temple of Lord Venkateshwara in the morning.
Later, Subba Reddy along with his family members offered prayers at the temple and was presented with the portrait of the Lord and Prasadam.
Prominent among those who participated in the event were deputy chief minister K Narayanaswamy, minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy and MLAs Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, B Madhusudhan Reddy and others.
It may be mentioned that Subba Reddy openly expressed his intentions to come back into active politics, though he did not express his disinterest in the TTD trust board chairman post.
He said he was happy with the service of Lord Venkateshwara in the capacity of TTD chairman for two years and he now wants to be in the direct public service.
Subba Reddy even regretted that despite being in the party for several years, he could not do anything for the people who stood by him and the party right from the beginning.
“I feel I would be able to serve the people and the party workers if I come back into the direct politics,” Subba Reddy said.
Subba Reddy reportedly requested Jagan to nominate him to Rajya Sabha ticket in 2022, but the chief minister wanted him to continue as the TTD trust board chairman.
Soon after the government made an announcement to this effect, Subba Reddy left for the US on a personal visit.
He returned only last week and met Jagan, apparently to request him to reconsider his decision.
But with Jagan firm on his decision, Subba Reddy has no option but to accept the post.
So, for another two and a half years, he would have no chance to get back into active political activity.
