The formation of 13 new districts in Andhra Pradesh created after the reorganisation of existing 13 districts is going to be delayed by a couple of days.
Instead of on Ugadi, as announced earlier, the new districts will come into existence from Monday, April 4.
The state cabinet, which was convened virtually by chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday, formally approved the reorganisation of the districts to form the new districts.
According to an official statement from the chief minister’s office, the new districts will come into operation between 9.05 am and 9.45 am on April 4, as per the muhurtham fixed by the Vedic pundits.
The cabinet also discussed the formation of 21 new revenue divisions and gave its approval.
Accordingly, the new revenue divisions would be formed in Palasa, Bobbili, Cheepurupalli, Bheemili, Kothapet, Bhimavaram, Vuyyuru, Tiruvuru, Nandigama, Bapatla, Chirala, Sattenapalli, Atmakuru, Dhone, Guntakal, Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, Rayachoti, Palamaneru, Kuppam and Srikalahasti.
The gazette notification for the new revenue divisions and new districts will be issued on March 31. Since Ugadi happens to be a holiday and an important festival for all the Telugus, it was decided to start the new districts from April 4.
The official note said Jagan would also felicitate the village and ward volunteers on April 6 and launch Vasathi Deevena programme on April 8. The state cabinet is expected to meet on April 7.
