Nellore Court Orders Arrest Of 4 Eenadu Reporters

Nellore Court Orders Arrest Of 4 Eenadu Reporters

On Thursday, the Nellore district court instructed the district police to file cases and arrest four reporters from the Eenadu daily.

The court's directions came in response to a case filed by the former vice-chairman of the Nellore Urban Development Authority (NUDA), P V Ramesh.

In 2022, the Eenadu daily published a major story accusing the NUDA of corruption and irregularities in its administration.

Ramesh claimed that the Eenadu reporters targeted him due to his background as a person from a weaker section of society.

The former vice-chairman of NUDA asserted that the allegations raised in the report were false and lacked foundation.

He told the court that the report was intended to tarnish his reputation without any justification.

In response to the case, the district court ordered the police to file cases against the four reporters responsible for writing the story in the Eenadu daily.

It remains to be seen whether the district police will indeed file cases and apprehend the four journalists from the Eenadu group.
