Known for his foul-mouthing of political rivals and controversial comments, Andhra Pradesh civil supplies minister Kodali Nani once again came down heavily on TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu using choicest abuses.
Even as the TDP and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have been demanding his resignation for making controversial remarks on Hindu temples, particularly Tirumala and Antarvedi, Nani accused Naidu of playing dirty politics on the visit of chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to Tirumala.
“How can Chandrababu Naidu claim himself a true Hindu? He climbed the Tirumala hills wearing shoes, whereas Jagan climbed the seven hills with bare feet. Who is the real Hindu?” Nani asked.
He alleged that Naidu had not even lit the pyre of his parents. “Naidu and his wife had done puja for the foundation stone laying ceremony with left hands. Are they Hindus? Has Naidu ever got his head tonsured in Tirumala?” Nani asked.
Stating that he had never spoken wrong about Hindu gods, the minister accused the pro-TDP media of distorting his comments on Lord Anjaneya Swamy.
“CM Jagan is going to Tirumala in the capacity of the state chief minister. He had gone to Tirumala several times in the past and will go in future as well,” he said.
Nani alleged that the TDP and BJP were making cheap politics in the name of “Hindutva.” He said Jagan had been treating all religions equally. “I have chains of all religions in my neck. I won four times as an MLA only because people of all religions had voted for me,” the YSRC minister said.
