Though TDP president and AP CM N.Chandrababu Naidu has been facing severe criticism from all quarters for wasting hundreds of crores of public money like water to unleash vendetta and personal grudge against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, nothing seems to be preventing him from continuing his mindless wastage of public money.
On the eve of PM Modi's visit to Vizag on Friday (today), Naidu issued orders to Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR) to issue half page advertisements on front page of all leading Telugu and English newspapers.
These advertisements worth over Rs 10 crore pertain to Naidu writing an 'open letter' to Modi questioning him about non-fulfillment of promises made to AP in the AP Reorganisation Act, failure to grant special category status to AP etc.
In this open letter, Naidu posed 14 questions to Modi starting from Hudhud cyclone to denial of funds to Polavaram project, not compensating revenue deficit of AP, not releasing funds for construction of new capital city Amaravathi.
There is nothing new in these 14 questions because Naidu has been talking about each of them in every public meeting and press meets like 'sollu puranam' for the past few months.
The irony is that Naidu chose to spend Rs 10 crore again to highlight his 'sollu puranam' in media by using public money while he claims AP to be a revenue deficit state.
The money for newspapers was sanctioned on a war footing by releasing orders immediately.
While newspaper owners walked away with crores of rupees in their pockets, Naidu garnered useless publicity by spending public money.
Ultimately, the poor and innocent people who pay their hard-earned money towards taxes to government remained the worst sufferers in this 'political drama' enacted by Naidu to settle his personal scores with Modi.
