It has been four months since Telugu Desam Party-led National Democratic Alliance headed by N Chandrababu Naidu came to power in Andhra Pradesh. But there have been no indications of Naidu implementing his Super Six promises made before the elections.
The only promise among these Super Six Naidu had implemented so far was the enhancement of pension amount to the senior citizens, single women and the physically challenged people, right from the first month of coming to power.
However, many other promises such as “Talliki Vandanam” (revised Amma Vodi scheme) under which Naidu promised to extend financial assistance of Rs 20,000 per every school-going child ever year; Annadata Sukhibhava (revised YSR Rythu Bharosa scheme) under which Rs 20,000 would be paid per acre to every farmer, free bus travel for women in the RTC buses, three gas cylinder to each poor family free of cost etc.
While he has been focussing on infrastructure projects, revising sand and liquor policies, attracting investments to the state, reconstruction of Amaravati project and resumption of Polavaram project, the non-implementation of welfare schemes which were smoothly implemented during the Jagan Mohan Reddy government has started generating a debate among the people.
So far, the people have given Naidu a long rope because he has just completed 125 days in power. But now, the opposition parties including YSRCP and the Congress have started raising the demand rather aggressively, creating a sort of pressure on Naidu.
Sources said Naidu is contemplating implementing at least three more schemes in the next few weeks, failing which there will be a negative campaign against him that he lacks credibility of fulfilling his election promises.
While the chief minister already announced the implementation of three free cylinders scheme from Diwali festival, he has reportedly asked the authorities to make budgetary allocations for Tallki Vandanam and Annadata Sukhibhava scheme with effect from January.
“It would require additional budgetary allocation of around Rs 20,000 crore to these schemes and Naidu is struggling to arrange funds for the same,” sources said.
