When YSR Congress Party president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he had appointed over 60 advisors across various subjects.
There were allegations that many of them were inactive and simply drawing monthly salaries without meaningful contributions.
His successor, Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, who assumed power last year, has taken a different approach. He has appointed only a few advisors so far, including figures like Chaganti Koteshwar Rao.
Now, on Monday, Naidu proposed the formation of a Special Advisory Council to support the government in delivering effective governance across the state. He instructed officials to set up the council at the earliest.
Unlike previous advisory roles, this new council will consist of 10 members drawn from esteemed institutions such as the Gates Foundation, IIT Madras, and others.
The council will be tasked with studying governance models and suggesting measures to enhance public welfare and administrative efficiency.
Presiding over a review meeting at the State Secretariat on Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS), the Chief Minister directed officials to initiate steps to make all public services available digitally — via online platforms, mobile applications, and WhatsApp Governance.
Naidu emphasized the need to raise public awareness about accessing services through Mana Mitra and to expand the reach of WhatsApp Governance significantly.
He clearly stated that all digital services should be integrated into the WhatsApp Governance system by June 12. Accordingly, he instructed the RTGS team to expedite the data integration process.
