After languishing in Rajahmundry central jail for more than a month, Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu will soon be able to breath some fresh outside air.
No, the TDP chief did not get any bail from any court – Supreme Court or high court or for that matter the court for Anti-Corruption Bureau cases. But he will come out for appearance in the ACB court on Monday for a few hours.
The ACB court in Vijayawada on Thursday approved a petition of the Crime Investigation Department of Andhra police seeking a prisoner transit warrant for questioning of Naidu in AP Fibernet case.
Rejecting Naidu’s anticipatory bail in the case, the ACB court asked the CID to produce him before the court between 10 am and 5 pm on Monday and question him.
If the court permits, he would be arrested once again and his judicial remand would be extended for another two weeks, even as the remand in skill development cases comes to an end on October 19.
CID counsel Vivekananda explained to the court in detail about the case and the number of people arrested.
He argued that since Naidu was instrumental in awarding the contract to the blacklisted company in the AP Fibernet company and appointing persons in the key posts, he would have to be questioned in the case.
The court agreed with the CID argument and asked the police to bring Naidu to the court personally on Monday.
In case, there is any judgement from the Supreme Court on Friday, Naidu’s counsels can interfere in the matter and seek fresh relief, the judge said.
