Naidu steps up work on Amaravati capital!

Within hours of Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman announcing a Rs 15,000 crore special assistance to the Andhra Pradesh government for taking up the capital city works, chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu stepped up the exercise to resume works on the unfinished works on the capital.

The state government on Wednesday issued a government order constituting a technical team to examine the abandoned works in Amaravati and suggest a way forward for the development of capital city.

The technical committee comprising chief engineers of various departments will examine the status of various works taken up as part of construction of capital city and assess the structural soundness of the various structures which were halted since May 2019.

The committee will take the services of reputed organizations in doing so. 3. To assess the extent of damage to roads, pipelines laid for sewer, water supply, power & ICT for the partly executed works.

It will assess the quality of materials stacked at site and assess serviceability of pipes, steel and other materials at stack. It will recommend for suitable retrofitting methods, if required.

The committee will recommend way forward on all the stalled works and give specific recommendations on the detailed process and methodology for starting all the stalled works.

It will also study and offer specific recommendations on the claims, if any made by various contracting agencies.

“The committee shall submit its report within a maximum period of one (1) month and consult all the stakeholders and visit the project sites before making specific recommendations on the issues,” the GO said.
