Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who raised a lot of hue and cry over the demolition notices given to his rented residence on the banks of Krishna river at Vundavalli in Amaravati, has virtually run away from his house.
Following heavy floods to Krishna river, resulting in discharge of water from Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala, the water level in the river at Prakasam barrage has gone up alarmingly in the last two days.
Though the authorities have lifted gates of the barrage, the river continues to swell with huge inflows from upstream, inundating the areas on the banks, forcing the authorities to shift the people to safer areas.
One of the victims is Naidu, whose residence on the banks of the river at Vundavalli is facing submergence threat.
Apparently realizing the danger, Naidu along with his family quietly shifted to his residence in Hyderabad. He is meeting his party leaders there.
His office staff are trying to prevent the entry of water into his residence by placing sand bags.
They also shifted his belongings, including furniture, files and other material to the second floor as a precautionary measure. At the same time, his convoy of vehicles has been moved to Happy Resorts in Amaravati.
Now, the YSR Congress party leaders have got the opportunity to take pot shots at Naidu.
“When our leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed out that Naidu’s house was an illegal construction falling within the submergence area, he made a big issue to gain political mileage. Now, who has run away from the house?” state minister Vellampalli Srinivas asked.
