YSR Congress party on Saturday accused Telugu Desam Party government in Andhra Pradesh headed by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu of ruining the state economy by indulging in wasteful expenditure and paying his favourable contractors.
Speaking to media, YSRC MLA G Srikanth Reddy said the state’s exchequer had gone empty due to financial indiscipline of Naidu.
Huge amounts were due for payment which shows the nepotism and recklessness in handling public finance by the TDP.
“Lakhs of genuine pending bills were not cleared while those of the favoured few got out of turn clearance. RTC buses were used for party programes and the amount was paid pushing the corporation into further loss,” he said.
He pointed out that the Naidu government had raised loans from every possible source and had pushed the state into a debt trap.
“The amount so raised was used for unproductive and self-promotion activities while genuine bills were gathering dust in the state offices,” he said.
Even contract workers and employees were deprived of their salaries while the big time contractors of TDP got their bills cleared within no time. The fact that about 3.46 lakh bills are pending in various government offices tells the tale of financial mismanagement of the state, he said.
Subsidies to the poor, E-Pass book bills, Hostel bills, compensation, rehabilitation and other such important issues were not paid and the money was not sanctioned and the bills were kept pending.
“Naidu has been giving funds to his coterie and has been shielding those who are named in cases right from Harshavardhan Choudhary to Ashok Dakavaram and others,” Srikanth Reddy said.
