Naidu playing mind game using cops!

It looks like Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandraababu Naidu is playing a mind game with the YSR Congress party taking advantage of the transfer of cops by the Election Commission.

While Naidu brazenly confronted the EC authorities by taking the Director General of Police (Intelligence) A B Venkateshwar Rao out of the EC purview, the two other IPS officers – Srikakulam SP A Venkata Ratnam and Kadapa SP Rahul Dev Sharma also wrote to the EC, questioning their abrupt transfer based on a “false” complaint by YSRC leaders.

Venakataratnam went a step ahead and even lodged a police complaint against YSRC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member V Vijay Sai Reddy for maligning his image with false allegations. He wanted Sai Reddy to prove the allegations against him or face legal action.

The SP, in his letter to EC, pointed out that the allegation levelled by Sai Reddy that he had personally intervened and helped in diverting Rs 50 crore in a vehicle belonging TDP candidate Kondru Murali a few days ago, was baseless and false.

“He had never gone to any place on that day and was busy with his own meetings. What the police seized from the car was only publicity material. If Sai Reddy had any evidence to prove his involvement, I am prepared for any legal action. But, if cannot prove it, he should pay heavy compensation,” he said.

He wondered how EC could take action against him without verifying the allegations levelled by YSRC leaders.

“The complaint and the EC action has damaged my reputation and my image among my family members and relatives,” he said.

The Kadapa SP also wrote a similar letter to EC questioning its propriety in transferring him without going into the factual position.

Meanwhile the YSRCP is likely to approach the election commission once again as TDP did not transfer intelligence chief.
